چکیده

ptomyces. Thiolutin (aureothricin)9), an antibiotic produced by a new species of streptomyces, S. thioluteus, inhibits the growth of both bacteria and fungi. The writers' preliminary examination of various streptomyces indicated that S. griseus, S. aureofaciens, S. radiae, S. lavendulae, and several other strains produced substances inhibitorily effective to Candida albicans. Besides, two strains, one of which is resembling to S. phaeochromogenus, and another of which to a new species, were found to produce antifungal substances. The antifungal substance of the former is extracted with ethyl acetate and inhibits the growth of various fungi. Its effect to C. albicans is rather suppressive than f ungicidal and the inhibitory effect depends upon the period of incubation in the medium containing this substance. This substance seems to be new, and the writers named it •gMoldin•h. The latter seems to be a new sepcies and was named S. phaeofaciens, accordingly the antifungal substance •gPhaeof acin•h. The nature of the strains and the antifungal substances are reported in the present paper. Also their effects are shown with those of thiolutin and rimocidin.

Deisovalerylblastmycin produced by Streptomyces SP.

A new antifungal antibiotic was isolated from the fermentation broth of Streptomyces sp. 5140-A1. Degradation studies of the crystalline antibiotic, m.p. 186 approximately 188 degrees C, C21H28O8N2, suggested Piricularia oryzae and less toxicity against killfish than antimycin A--blastmycin antibiotics.

Cytotoxicity effect of secondary metabolites of Streptomyces koyangensis and Streptomyces tunisiensis isolated from saline soils of Garmsar City on human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7, IBRC C10082)

Background: Streptomyces is one of the most important prokaryotic microorganisms, and their secondary metabolites have high antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties. Three-quarters of the antibiotics known to be produced by these bacteria. As a result, finding new effective compounds from these microorganisms can be a way to treat cancer. The aim of this study was to isolate and screen halophilic...

Screening for Non-polyenic Antifungal Produced by Actinobacteria from Moroccan Habitats: Assessment of Antimycin A19 Production by Streptomyces albidoflavus AS25

Fungal diseases are currently a serious public health problem, due to the limited number of really effective principles, and the emergence of resistant strains to the polyenic antifungals. The aim of this study was to screen, for non-polyenic antifungals production by Actinobacteria, and to validate the screening program by characterizing the produced compounds. Actinobacteria isolates were tes...

Isolation, characterization and antifungal activity of Streptomyces sampsonii GS 1322.

For new antifungal antibiotics from actinomycetes, a strain of Streptomyces GS 1322 was isolated from a sample of garden soil. The strain was found to possess antagonistic activity against four fungi i.e., Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton sp. The strain was identified as Streptomyces sampsonii and the antifungal compound produced by it was found to be th...
